What the record shows

Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Kyle Pavao testified. He examined a Microsoft Surface Pro taken from the Clancy home. Pavao testified that in August 2022, the laptop was used to access a suicide-methods website via Facebook, and separately visited a Wikipedia page about Tom Hall, a singer who died by suicide.¹

State Police Sgt. Timothy Chiappini testified. He analyzed data extracted from Lindsay Clancy's iPhone. Five days before the killings, she googled "hallucinations." Four days before, she googled "Can you treat a sociopath?" and about ten minutes later googled information about psychosis. On 19 January 2023, she googled "schizophrenia" at 8:58 AM and "hallucinations" at 10:33 AM.²³

Chiappini testified Lindsay Clancy's phone was used to search for ThreeV restaurant in Plymouth, including a map search showing route length.⁴

Defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked Chiappini about a search for "How to slit your throat to die?"; Chiappini said he did not recall it.³

CNN reports cellphone notes presented in court showed Clancy writing about a "downhill" turn. The notes aligned with provider testimony about anxiety and insomnia. The Globe reports Clancy googled information about postpartum and medications she had been prescribed.⁵²

State Police Trooper Joshua McKelligan, the lead homicide investigator, began testifying about his search of the Clancy home in the predawn hours of 25 January 2023, after the killings. Court ended early. The jury was dismissed until 17 August 2026.¹³

Contested

Whether the Google searches show psychosis or rational planning. Prosecution and defense characterize the same search history oppositely.

Whether the cellphone note content supports the defense theory or shows lucidity. Opening-statement theories, not established findings.
