What the record shows

Judge William Sullivan presided. Day 6 of testimony continued from about 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday 4 August at Plymouth Superior Court. Prosecutors continued their case against the Duxbury mother accused of strangling her three children in January 2023.¹

Prosecution witnesses focused primarily on crime scene investigation including how evidence is collected, lab tests done, and what they should have done. The investigators testified to evidence collected from Clancy's body and the Duxbury house.¹

The day concluded with testimony from Sherri Crook, a bloodstain pattern analyst with the Massachusetts State Police. Through her testimony, prosecutor Jennifer Sprague and Kevin Reddington presented alternative theories of how Lindsay Clancy cut her wrists and neck, then jumped from a second-story window on 24 January 2023, after killing her three children in the basement.¹

The jury saw numerous images taken inside and outside the Clancy home in Duxbury, including various prescription medicine bottles, her toxicology report and bloodstains documented in the basement, upstairs bedroom and exterior shingles.¹

Contested

Whether Lindsay Clancy's suicide attempt was genuine. The Patriot Ledger's Day 7 recap reports Sprague's questioning of Crook suggested Clancy's suicide attempt wasn't in earnest and she may have hung from the window and slid down.²
