What the record shows

Judge William Sullivan presided. The jury viewed the former Clancy residence at 47 Summer St. in Duxbury, where Lindsay Clancy killed her three children by strangling them with exercise bands in January 2023. In addition to the former Clancy house, the jury viewed the CVS in Kingston and the Three V restaurant in Plymouth's Cordage Park before returning to Plymouth Superior Court for more witness testimony in the afternoon.1

Defense lawyer and former Plymouth County Assistant District Attorney Michael Phippen bought the home from Patrick Clancy in January 2024 for $675,000. Phippen, through his attorney Peter Maguire, objected to the viewing at a June pretrial hearing. Judge William Sullivan overruled his objection, but issued a court order limiting visitors to jurors, attorneys, the judge and any court staff deemed necessary. The order also prohibits jurors from opening closet doors or touching items.1

Patrick and Lindsay Clancy bought the Duxbury home in July 2018 for $500,000.1

Contested

Whether the jury viewing would be "massively disruptive" to the current homeowner. Maguire said Phippen's domestic partner would be home during the day and that a view would disturb pets and neighbors. Sullivan overruled the objection.1
