What the record shows

Judge William Sullivan presided. Eight first responders testified about the scene at the Duxbury home on 24 January 2023. Prosecutors Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham called four Duxbury firefighters, three Duxbury police officers, and one Pembroke firefighter to the witness stand.¹

The witnesses described their observations as they administered medical care to Lindsay Clancy, who had jumped from a second-story window and was lying in a state of semiconsciousness in the backyard, and the three children, who they found strangled in the basement.¹

Duxbury police officer Stephen Hall testified he responded to a dispatch at 6:11 p.m. to go to the Clancy home on Summer Street in Duxbury (the indexed Patriot Ledger extract of Hall's testimony prints the date as 23 January 2024; the crime date in the rest of the record is 24 January 2023).¹

Sullivan dismissed the jury for the day just after noon on Thursday 30 July. On the morning of Friday 31 July, the jury was scheduled to view the home on 47 Summer St. in Duxbury, as well as the CVS and Three V restaurant Patrick Clancy visited on 24 January 2023.¹

Contested

Whether Lindsay Clancy's self-inflicted wounds were intended to kill her. The defense and prosecution debated the severity of her injuries during testimony.¹

Autopsy photographs shown to the jury were not released publicly. Press reports describe the testimony about the findings.

Postpartum psychosis as a diagnosis in general is not on trial. This defendant's criminal responsibility is.

Patrick Clancy is not a defendant.
