What the record shows

Judge William Sullivan presided. Patrick Clancy's testimony continued. The prosecution finished its questioning ahead of a late morning recess. Patrick Clancy began testifying on Monday 27 July. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington did not cross-examine immediately; he recalled Patrick after the lunch break. Patrick Clancy's testimony lasted approximately six hours over two days and concluded after 4 p.m. that day.¹

The 911 call Patrick Clancy made on 24 January 2023 was played for the courtroom. The call captured the moment he discovered the children's bodies in the basement. The Patriot Ledger reports the call included "heartrending screams" and "desperate cries for help."¹ Judge Sullivan had ruled the 911 call would be heard by the jury and those in the courtroom but would not be released publicly.¹

Day 6 of the trial included Patrick Clancy's testimony, as well as brief testimony from a CVS manager and a hostess of the Three V restaurant in Plymouth. Patrick Clancy visited both locations on the evening of 24 January 2023.¹

The jury saw the exercise bands used in the killings. Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Sprague held them up during proceedings.²

The trial was scheduled to resume Thursday morning. Judge Sullivan told the jury they would view the house where the killings took place on Friday, 31 July.¹

Contested

The legal question is whether Lindsay Clancy was criminally responsible on 24 January 2023. Patrick Clancy's testimony provides background on her mental health decline and the events of that day, but it does not resolve the question of criminal responsibility.
